What is TaT Biz and the TaT network

One on One TrainingTaT Biz is the business training arm of the popular TaT network, publishers of The Automotive Technician (TaT) magazine.

Unlike other generic business advisors, TaT Biz specialises in the auto mechanical and technical industry, and delivers live business training seminars and one-on-one coaching.

TaT Biz has worked with hundreds of workshops throughout Australia and New Zealand, equipping them with the business skills necessary to run highly successful workshops. The TaT Biz training system is based on years of practical experience in the automotive industry.

A TaT founding director, Jeff Smit, runs his own successful aftermarket workshops, and his experience is shared with thousands of technicians through the unique TaT network through the magazine, website and training programs. TaT is dedicated to improving the skills and earning potential of Australasia’s technicians. At training sessions, Jeff identified that many workshops don’t achieve their potential, resulting in poor financial reward for effort.

Good technical skills were often negated by lack of business skills. Jeff identified a hole in the market because most of the business training available lacked hands-on knowledge of the industry and its people.

Jeff formed an alliance with business trainer Geoff Mutton to develop business training modules specific to the auto mechanical industry. In 2010 TaT Biz was formed and quickly developed a business training program to help workshop owners and managers improve their working procedures and their bottom line. After a rigorous assessment process, TaT Biz was contracted several years ago by the leading automotive cooperative, the Capricorn Society to roll out a co-branded business training program.

TaT Biz has also partnered with Bosch Automotive Aftermarket, Burson Auto Parts and VASA to run successful business training sessions. TaT Biz has helped hundreds of workshops throughout Australia and New Zealand to improve or revamp their business skills.

Why you need to think about getting on board with TaT Biz and the TaT network

Every great performer, from Roger Federer to Richard Branson is surrounded by coaches, mentors and advisers.

As the pace of the auto mechanical industry quickens through political, economic, socio-cultural and technological intervention, it can be difficult for workshop owners and managers to keep abreast of both business and technical changes, not to mention the time needed to study the trends in sales, marketing and management strategies.

If you want to stay at the head of the pack you need to consider partnering with the TaT network. Through its business and technical training TaT will keep you up to date with the latest techniques and ensure your business is achieving its full potential.

It is a common mistake for businesses to accept their status and their turnover as being unchangeable, that 'this is just the way it is'.

It is your responsibility as a business owner or manager to ensure that the business reaches its potential.

If you get on board with the TaT team you will get the help you need to achieve your goals.

The game plan is for the business owner to work less, relax more and enjoy business ownership.
